This has been an excellent weekend for performing.  On Friday, "Haunted Old New England" at Storrowton Village, a solo show for me, storytelling and singing.  Saturday, I didn't do much, but that was a fabulous change of pace.  Today I just got back from my gig with negothick as the Midnight Belles, performing at a historic house museum in Connecticut.   ( Read more... )

Yesterday was pure delight--it was an exceptional audience, that's for sure. Even more rare than the applause was the reaction inside the songs--people actually gasping at "Reynardine", that indrawn breath when Young Charlotte says "I'm growing warmer now." That's why doing ballads with minimal or no accompaniment really is best; it allows you to stop or slow down before resuming the thread of the narrative.
Here's to many more triumphs!

I know the very same indrawn-audience-breaths. They're the equivalent of a gale of laughter, for the non-humorous pieces.
