Yes, the title is a reference to The Princess Bride. That should be warning enough of exactly how ridiculous this fic is.
It starts when Scott mentions, offhandedly, “A date? They’re not dating.”
Lydia and Jackson stare because, what the fuck?
“Of course they’re dating,” Lydia says.
Jackson and Lydia may not be dating anymore, but Jackson thinks it’s made them even more terrifying when they work together. Because Jackson and Lydia? Totally know that those two are dating, even if it is secretly (in which case, they suck at the “secretly” part).
“They’re not dating,” Scott says.
“Dude, you’re Stiles’ best friend,” Jackson says, “how are you this oblivious?”
Scott is kind of a shitty friend. Jackson always knows whom Danny is dating.
“No, no, you don’t understand,” Scott says, “they’re not actually datingDear god. Jackson thinks that, possibly, this isn’t Scott just being completely oblivious to everything but Allison

After they finish bemoaning Derek and Stiles and their combined stupidity (it takes about a week), they come up with a fool-proof (well, Stiles-and-Derek-proof) plan

OP HERE - Gawd, this is gloriousness. I love it like candy. And Derek's line about the movies. *falls over laughing* I just swooned. Thank you soooo much.
Re: Inconceivable 3/3ladyladeOctober 28 2011, 02:26:57 UTC
YAY OP!!
I'm so glad you liked it, especially because this kinda veered off from the prompt! And Derek's line about the movies was pretty much where I just lost it and started cracking up, because Derek would totally be like, "No one will come to the movies with me...because I didn't ask them."
Re: Inconceivable 3/3swing_set13October 28 2011, 02:42:57 UTC
Justed adored it. Thank you so much for writing it.
Stiles would just gawk at Derek. You have to ask, people can't sense when you want to see a movie. It's not a superpower that anyone walks around with in their backpocket. Derek just huffs and mumbles "you know" and Stiles goes on about how Derek leaves the entertainment section out on the kitchen table and circles timings for movies. And Stiles loves going to the movies. Scott hates zombie ninja movies so Siles leaps at the opportunity.

Oh my god. Lydia and Jackson make the most awesome BFFs EVER.
I want to see more of their incredible awesome, only turned on each other. Like, Lydia filing her nails and going "You and Derek? Yeah, I called that one when we were in fifth grade." And Jackson all, "BUT WE DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL." Lydia smirking, "I borrowed you."
AND THEN Jackson doing the same to Lydia. Somehow. I don't know. They're awesome together and it's hilarious Especially Scott's non-obliviousness. I love that Scott knew and was pained by it but fuck no he's not gonna try and do anything about it!

I saw the prompt and was like, "YES," and I thought it would go one way, but Lydia and Jackson just kinda took it over. They would make the best megalomaniacs in the world, no joke.

Thank you!
This is what happens when I watch too many multifandom fan vids. I started outlining Lydia and Jackon's plan, and then I was like, "step three, veggie shakes," and then suddenly the entire fic was a Nikita joke.
Re: Inconceivable 3/3ladyladeOctober 28 2011, 15:47:15 UTC
Thank you!
I actually wrote most of this thinking that they were both oblivious, but then I was like, "nooooo I've been straying from prompts too much." Plus it always funnier when someone is oblivious to the fact that they're actually dating, and the other person doesn't tell them.

“You need to actually start dating,” Lydia tells them.
“What?” Stiles squawks.
“We have been dating,” Derek says.
“See?” Stiles says. “We have been-we’ve been what.”
“I take you to movies,” Derek says.
“You told me no one else will go see them with you!” Stiles says, complete with flailing arms.
“They won’t,” Derek says, “because I don’t invite them.”
Stiles gapes. “How long has this been going on?!”
“Five months,” Jackson and Lydia say.
“Five months? Five months? I’m sorry, but what the hell?” Stiles says ( ... )
