No, this isn’t the travel story yet. It is a travel story, though.

Wha??? Crazy store woman. You know, I hear about stuff like this from friends who are considering or are in the midst of adopting, and they just slay me. I just don't get it. Because that view of adoption is 180 degrees from the one I was surrounded with growing up, it baffles me.

But I love your response, love the goodies, and love your ability to track down new knitting supplies. My heart skipped a beat I think when I read that you'd broken a Lantern Moon needle. Do you knit on straights a lot? I tend to because that's what I have (a rather extensive collection because I inherited my grandmother's needles) and I don't have any sort of wrist problem. But most other serious knitters I read about seem to be firmly in the circular camp. I recently bought some new DPNs at the new LYS, and the owner asked me what I was going to use them for (socks or hats) so she could get me the right length. She was really surprised when I said I use DPNs for the whole hat not just the top.

Can I just add WTF???? I don't understand the "you're brave to adopt" thing at all.

I always hear that I'm brave or crazy, though, to have a child at 41. Morons. At least no one (yet) asked me if he's my grandchild.
