Well, they pulled the breathing tube on my dad early this morning because it was so "uncomfortable" for him and damned if the old buzzard didn't keep on breathing on his own.  He's still hanging in there -- fragile but conscious, the doc says it's a day-by-day thing.  Thanks again for all your kind words and thoughts.
