So I called GameStop today to find out about my Xbox360 reservation. I'm 73rd out of 50. You've GOT to be kidding me. So this means I won't be able to get mine until closer to Christmas. But according to Kevin, the wonder boy at GameStop, I can buy accessories and games as SOON as they are available while I wait for my actual unit. How HELPFUL ( Read more... )

Yeah, I read about that, but I thought it was some other store, not GameStop that was doing that. That's totally NOT a fair consumer tactic though. I think they should stick to the order in which people reserved their units. But being as how I reserved mine in on August 24th I would have thought I was sure to get mine on launch day. Microsoft and their trickle release tactic can bite me.

Microsoft pretty much said they are trickling them out to prevent a rush on day one that wipes them out for the next two months, which is what happened with the PS2 I believe. Now, it could be clever marketing for "we fucked up and only made 6 of them" but I wouldn't put it past Microsoft do do random stuff like this.
