John's gone. He's been gone too long. It's a routine scouting mission, but in this galaxy routine includes Wraith. Elizabeth's more worried than she wants to let on, especially when she looks in Ronon's eyes and sees the same fear echoed there. He asks if he can take a team out after John, and she tells him if they don't hear in twelve hours, she'll authorize it. He starts to protest, but she lays a hand on his arm and tells him to have a little of the faith she's not feeling.

The kiss just sort of happens. She leans over him where he sits to brush a gentle kiss over his brow and say it'll be okay, and his mouth tilts up to catch hers. It's entirely sweet and unexpected, and she smiles when their lips part.

Ten minutes later there's a contact from John. Neither of them say it, but kissing seems like good luck, and it becomes a habit.
