I've seen this all over the place, so I can't really credit where I got it:

If there is someone on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal. There are many of you. Thank you ( Read more... )

"Indigo Children." Hmph. More like "Feral Children." Amazing how far people will go to excuse their own lazyness with their parenting.

The model in the LB ad is pretty. My first thought, though, was "Oh, yuck, Victorian blouses are coming back."

I'll go ahead an point out that Rowan's been called an Indigo, and Kyle a crystal. They are both incredibly well-behaved kids--strangers come up to us in restaurants and compliment them. Their behavior has nothing to do with their auric colors. Their behavior has to do with the fact that they have a mom and a step-dad who are willing to sit them down, explain the rules and then hold them accountable for their behavior. Radical idea, I know.

A stranger in Borders once approached me to inform me that Katie and a friend she was with were Indigo Children, and that I must read the book to parent them (he thought they were sisters) properly. I told him I was offended.

I didn't state that all "indigo children" are badly behaved. However, most of my encouters with the whole mess have been with people who insisted that their feral children are that way because they're indigo or crystal. Bullshit. Their kids are that way because their parents are slackers who don't actually parent them.

I did try to read the book, and some other material - and every bit of it pegs my BS meter in the WORST way. If you find value in it, that's great. I don't.

I was gob-smacked upon learning this. I'd always considered Tristan a poster child for ADHD. Little did I know he was actually an enlightened space-being.

Priceless. Just. Priceless.

I love that my husband is dedicated to raising our kids as neo-pagan, just like him. What I dont love so much is some of the other neo-pagan parents. Because, come on, people. Your kid is not a reincarnated space alien.
