Serious question for my artist friends. I really want to get another tattoo soon, mostly to cover up the one on my ankle since the artist fucked it up and I don't like it

I would say "yes, ask them". Personally, I'd feel kind of uncomfortable if someone got a tattoo of my art, and even more uncomfortable if they didn't ask me first. (If they did ask me first, my response would be "Nooooo you will regret this in 5 years. There are so many better artists. Go ask one of them!" haha.)
If I was in your situation, I would probably just commission someone, or design/draw it yourself if you're into that. Then you have a personalized tattoo.
Haha, I can't do Xerneas justice (and the last time I tried to do my own artwork for a tattoo it didn't turn out that well, it's the one I want to cover up). I have a few artists in mind in case they do say no. c:
I think you should ask the artist if you feel like it.
I doubt they would mind as I personally would be flattered if someone wanted to get a tattoo of one of my pieces on their body c: In the case that they do turn you down, you could always commission someone for a piece or even to 'micmic' the style a bit if you really want something similar.
