There you will find a list of questions that will help people new to these formats find their way a bit as well some questions that have popped up before. If your question isn't answered, then please feel free to drop a comment and I'll try my best to help you, but I'm just a regular internet user like yourselves so I don't know everything ^^;
1) Why are some episodes unsubbed?
The reason is, that
nyanchan hasn't translated them. It's a long story but it is unlikely that these episodes (1-5,32-47) will be subbed. Frankly though, you aren't missing out on much.
2) What are "RAW" files?
The raw files are just that, raw. They are the file as seen on TV, therefore, they HAVE NO SUBTITLES. I upload them for people to snatch as they are aired and coz I'm OCD like that :P
3) What are softsubs and how do I play them?
Softsubs are a subtitle file that are used in tandem with raw files. To see the subtitles DO NOT TRY TO OPEN THE FILE!! It will only look like a text file. Instead, make sure that both the RAW and the softsub are in the same file and have the EXACT same name, save for the extension, ie video.avi and video.ass. Now just play the video and the subtitles should appear.
I use .ass format which lets me use colours and formatting to make the screen less messy (I used to make .srt files as well, that it's become too messy for that). I would recommend this format for those who already have the RAW as it saves downloading another large file. HOWEVER, please remember that softsubs take a lot more processing power than hardsubs.
4) What are hardsubs and how do I play them?
Hardsubs are the files with the subtitles burnt onto the video. You simply open and play the file. I recommend this format for those you don't download/have the RAW videos.
5) What are the .00# extensions?
Files that have a .00# extension are part files which have been spilt to conform with server restrictions. To play them, you simply get a joining program such as
HJSplit and join the files. After that, it should play like a normal file.
6) I joined/downloaded the file, but it won't play!!
First, check that the file or all of the pieces have downloaded completely. If they haven't, you'll need to re-download them. If it still won't play, check that you have the correct codecs installed. I encode all my files using Xvid codec, so you'll need the DivX codec to play. I think most computers will have this already, but if you don't you should
download the codec or a codec pack (
such as CCCP) which will have it included.
7) I downloaded codecs and I still can't watch the video!!
If you are using windows media player, try
Media Player Classic or
VLC player which will play just about any format. Other than these 2 players there are others such as Zoom player and BS player, but I've never used them so I'm not familiar with their capabilities.
8) I did everything, but I still can't see the softsubs! What do I do?
If worst comes to worst, you can force VLC to show subtitles. To do this,
open the video using "open file". There you can open the file using the "Browse" function. To select the subtitle,
tick the "subtitle" box and click "browse". From there you can
select the subtitles that match the video using "browse". And that is the end of that. It should work properly now. However, by using VLC, the formatting is lost, so there may be many, many overlaps. In the case you can't read or whatever, my suggestion is to download the hardsubs.
9) I can't download from XXXX. Can you upolad to XXXX?
I provide several different mirrors so if you can use any of them, please do so first. I'm willing to accept mirror requests, but please remember that it takes time to do so.
10) I can't download
yuckie-chan's subs, can you help me?
NO. We are friends, but not the same person. Those subs belong to her and have nothing to do with me. My own integrity as a subber and my respect for her mean that I WILL NOT REDISTRIBUTE THEM under any circumstance.
