As I'm doing things like unpacking stuff, arranging books, hanging pictures I find myself wondering if the arrangement would have met with mom and grandma's approval.  I think Mom would have gone for the green wall.  Grandma might have been a little miffed about the Ethernet cable but the cable is temporary.

First rule of geeking: Girls, no matter the age, do not like cables being strung visibly about the residence. This is merely a fact of life and likely caused the development of 802.11b. :)

It's not so much the draping about as the really ugly taping down. If you want to run it along the ceiling, go for it, just don't tape it down to the carpet using packing tape. Yeesh.

Haha.. I'm not that bad. I've got it routed behind bookcases and encased in a rubber cable guard where it crosses walkways (looks kind of like a speed bump).

I read this and I got a good laugh. Gramma would be pissed about the cable being down there and Momma would be ok with whatever you wanted to do with the house as long as she didn't have to do the work. She did say, after all, that the inside of the house needed to be painted...didn't say what color tho.
