I think it's pretty cool. And you're part of the people!

Easy for you to say, you non-US-citizen (and therefore ineligible to serve)! ;)

Yeah, I'm not too annoyed by it. I'm pretty sure they'll be flexible about it at work...I emailed both my boss and the CEO, and the CEO wrote back saying "Thanks for the heads-up". So it probably won't be a big deal, although I am working on a major project right now and we'll get set back a bit if I'm not there for a couple weeks.

I'm just on call right now. If I do get picked to serve on a trial, I expect it'll be long periods of boredom punctuated by occasional interesting moments, maybe. I know it's not really like a TV drama, with the opposing lawyer shouting "Objection!" and whatnot. They even said in the letter that I should bring a book or magazine or something with me to read, because I might "have to wait while important pre-trial activities take place". Ohhh-kay then.

I would do it if (a) it didn't mean lost wages and (b) there were some kind of night court for people who refuse to get up at 5:30 in the morning. Also I wouldn't want it to be long-term, 'cos I'd get sick of bag lunches every day, and I'm pretty sure the cafeteria would have nothing that I'd want to eat. Other than that, I recognize it's my "civic duty" or WHATEVER.

HAVE FUN. P.S. Answering the question "Is there any reason you can't serve on this jury" with the answer, "Yes, your honor, I'm a RACIST!" DOES NOT WORK. So I hear.

I just got the mail and saw that R received a jury summons! Somehow this is all your fault!
