This is my problem with ideology.

It is a kind of power, especially when introduced to seeking, (often) young minds who are so desperate for something to believe in or to be critical with or to deplore.  I imagine what charisma can do with blunt reason and a vivid metaphor.  Something deadly, perhaps; something explosive.  Package all this in a suit ( Read more... )

But the things is with ideology, even though it does have the ability to overpower the persons agreeing with it, is that it gives people something to believe in and work towards. Ideas/beliefs hold more power than any tangible creation simply because they can't be stopped. But it also gives power to the believers of the idea, although this, too, is sometimes a bad thing. But then again *looks at Egypt* sometimes it's a good thing.

Yeah, I know. They're dangerous, but also very, very useful at some points.

Yeah, I know. I posted about all that a few weeks ago, but yeah, Ghandaf'si (?) beliefs *cough* pride *cough* is not a positive point for the people in Libya.
