He sounds like the kind of guy who thinks having an old car that breaks down all the time is great, because having your car up on blocks in the front yard is so much more fun than driving around actually going places. And besides, you get to show much more manly you are than those pretentious people who just get to the place they are going faster in a car they've never rebuilt themselves.

I had to endure Macs at Uni due to a vendetta our departmental IT Head had against Microsoft. And this was in the days of 90s MacOS, which froze more often than Windows 98
