Perfect Ianto and Owen. Owen just blurts out the platitudes, probably an instinct to get Ianto sorted and acting less of a hassle, but it's exactly what Ianto needs in the end. Jack, who is honest and actually thoughtful, doesn't get what's needed. The perfect dichotomy.

Owen's voice is perfect, too, btw. Nicely done.

Thank you so much. And yes, I just wanted it be such a contrast the fact that Owen realises what Ianto needs is for someone to saw the word 'You're a good man' whether they believe them or not. Very glad you enjoyed the fic.

I completely agree. I saw Owen in a whole new light after Fragments because of that. Very glad you liked the fic. :)

Also in Cybergirl; episode if you watch Owens expression when Ianto says *haven't you ever loved someone" that look says it all.

I really, really, really like this. Echoing what others have said, Jack and Owen essentially said the same thing to Ianto. But Jack wasn't astute enough to realize that all Ianto needed was someone to say the words.

I don't think Jack realised that was all Ianto really needed, that he wasn't asking some philosophical question, he just needed to hear the words 'You're a good man' whether they were true or not. I'm really glad you liked this, thanks for reading. :)

Owen quite likes any of the options that involve him going back upstairs and ignoring the snivelling suit in the corner, but as much as he likes to fool people into thinking otherwise, Owen can actually be a decent human being on occasion.
Although this might seem a strange sentence to quote it sums up Owen rather perfectly. Ianto's self doubts and Jack's ignorance for what is needed in certain situations is also very believable.
Wonderful Ianto/ Owen story. I love to see them interact.
Thank you so much, it will go straight to my memos!!

Thank you so much. I'm really glad you enjoyed this and that it was very believable for you to read. I feel like I should write more Owen/Ianto friendship fic. So much potential there.

“See! How hard was that?” Ianto asks,

Jack is remarkably obtuse at times. I'm glad Owen could give Ianto what he needed. I really am starting to enjoy Owen/Ianto friendship fics. Fan fiction makes me appreciate Owen's complexities better than canon.

Jack really is, but thankfully Owen's on hand to be remarkably blunt. Owen was never one of my fav characters but I've grown to love him through fanfiction. I think I liked him best in Countrycide when he was being an actual Doctor.
