aww. that is just heartbreaking. the worst being when he saw Steven. It was almost as if it was a pathetic apology that even he couldn't accept. poor jack, so much pain in so little time.

I don't think anyone mentioned it to me, no.

Imagine if he did answer the door and it was Santa... hehe. That's next years Christmas fic sorted... lol.

Well I presume Rhys will overfeed him, Gwen will smother him with kindness and he'll get to know their little girl, so we can assume it'll be happier. ;)

Those last few lines finally did me in and my eyes welled up. So sad!
Took me a while to remember that Jack actually CAN timetravel. At first I only thought he remembered the scene with Ianto, then I realized he actually WAS there and saw him again. As he did see Stephen and Tosh and Owen. Oh man.

I've written my fair share in sad Christmas stories, too, although in the Stargate fandom. I guess it is a fitting time of the year for bittersweetness.

*hands over tissues* Yeah I didn't want to give it away explicitly at the start, because everyone that he visits doesn't actually realise that he effectively isn't their Jack.

I think Christmas is the loneliest time of year for some people, which is tragic. So glad you enjoyed the fic though, and thanks for commenting.
