So...I'm pretty sure the LA Times completely missed the target with their Girls' Guide to Comic Con 2009. Like, missed the target so badly they shot themselves in the foot.

There are a lot of things I could say about the article, but most of those things are built around a four-letter root word beginning with F. So instead I'll just copypasta the ( Read more... )

Hey, looks like somebody took lessons from Marvel on how to appeal to the female audience!

...Wow. That's, to borrow parcae's term, special. Yes, sparkly things and lipgloss will entice the ladies females to comics. *facepalm*

Did they ever think that they might attract more girl geeks by not putting so many awesome female characters in the refrigerator? Seriously.

I don't have much experience in the world of comics, especially when it comes to conventions, not even much of what to expect. My experience and fond memories of comic books comes from two cardboard boxes in the attic, full of my brother's old 60's edition Superman, Batman, and miscellaneous books.

But that article, what's a step down from pissing you off? I got half-way through the pictures, and what I gather from it is: comics are a guy's world, geeky guys, but don't worry mainstream girls, you can come in on the action too because we have a lot of half-naked and good looking men! Don't forget about the vampires; we know you'll love those, this year.

Where are the women in this comic book world... thing? And I'm sure that not all women are attracted by the ooposite sex or sex, period.

I like your letter, it's very sensible, and I hope they respond or at least take a hint.
