As for tonight's debate....my new icon is all I have to say about that.

And yes, I did spend the entire frigging hour between the end of the debate and this post making it. If you think it's cool, take it, use it, spread it. Icons are the STDs of the Internet. XD

...I'll go do work now. *sigh*

politics, icons

Great, now I can't get that mental image out of my head. ... I love you. <3

Finish work and you can have tightpants. I typed hotpants first and had to go, no, different fashion fad.

I haven't even seen the debate yet and I've ganked it. Do I really need to see more of her to realize what this particular regime-in-waiting thinks a good example of contemporary female strength looks like?

Oh, just wait until you see it. McCain actually called her a role model for women. I would have thrown something at the screen if it wasn't...my laptop screen, and thus kind of important that I not break it.

I actually can't even think about it without turning into the cat in your icon. DO NOT WANT, indeed. *headdesk*

A balled-up pair of socks usually works.

I think what torques me the most is that there are so many girls out there that already wanted to be her before she hit the spotlight. I don't want to sling mud by using the term "vapid baby machine", but the number of women I've heard talking about how wonderful it must be to win beauty pageants, how "lucky" she is to have landed a rich, handsome husband, and how exemplary it is of her to have mothered 5 children and be so caring toward a "retarted" baby has turned my stomach on more than one occasion ( ... )

Yes and yes and yes to all points.

and how exemplary it is of her to have mothered 5 children

Honestly you would think she was the only person ever to have a large family ever ever ever. *headdesk* Or a child with Down's Syndrom (which, note to McCain, is not the same as autism). My mom and dad have five kids. None of us are "retarded," but we've all got our problems. Any family has problems to handle, and in a loving family that's exactly what you do--you handle it.

I was actually surprised to find out that McCain had adopted a child from Bangladesh. I wondered why we hadn't heard anything about that, in an effort to make him seem less of a Grumpy Old Man. But then I realized--he has a penis, so it's irrelevant.

How is it different when looks buy their way into a political office?

It's not. But that kind of prostitution is legal in all fifty states.
