Nate still remembered Sam’s birth as if it had been only yesterday. Maggie had been calm, and he’d been a mess. Hell, he’d very nearly driven her to the wrong hospital!

But he’d finally gotten her where she needed to be. She’d suffered through the pains, cursed like a sailor and pushed like a champ - and he’d been the most useless sobbing mess on the planet. And the most terrified.

A son. She’d given him a son. They’d made a son from their love.

The nurse had placed the tiny squirming, wailing bundle in his arms, and he’d fallen in love. He’d cradled Sam -named for Maggie’s father - to his chest and had, for once in his life, known a moment of perfect happiness.

He’d become a father.
