Kaye Lynn! Kaye Lynn! the crowd chanted as the final notes of the show’s last song faded away. She smiled, looking out into the audience. Her band was there, behind her, backing her up as always.
For a moment her thoughts drifted to him. The man in the past, behind her, who’d kept his promise.
Come with me, we can be the next Johnny and June.
She closed her eyes and for a brief moment she could picture him there on the stage next to her with a guitar in his hands and a smile on his face. She quickly opened her eyes again, banishing the fantasy.
“We love you, good night Nashville!” Kaye Lynn blew a kiss to the crowd then linked arms with her bandmates and closed the show with a final bow.
