Here Come Trouble - OTA

A watched pot never boils but Jesse couldn't help himself. He wanted it to be official. He wanted his powers. It was killing him. What would it be? Maybe he would be able to fly. Maybe he'd be able to teleport or shape shift. Maybe he would be a firestarter or super strong. He felt like he was 11 again dreaming up the different possibilities. ( Read more... )

Sarah was mid-way to placing the mixed vegetable stir fry onto her plate when Jesse started his shouting, she really wasn't sure what it was all about until he mentioned the food and she saw that, yes, it had indeed changed.

That was...odd. But Jesse seemed to be literally over the moon, he was practically overloading on happy. "Wow, you're about to burst." She wasn't sure if it was possible to get a 'happy' headache, but if Jesse kept it up, she might find out.

"You should've gone for something healthier, those'll give you a heart attack." She wasn't aware that Jesse had been a mutant, or had the potential to be a mutant or that he'd be so freaking happy at being a mutant, but then, it was practically thumping through her skull with technicolour fireworks.

"You've got a whole lot of joy all up in here."

"Of course I'm fucking happy!" He all but shouted again as he grabbed her arms and planted a big kiss on her. Happy was an understatement. He really didn't even know what he did or how he did it but he did something and that was the point ( ... )

Wiping the back of her hand on her already smeared lipstick, Sarah just smiled when he pulled away from that surprise of a kiss and started blabbering away. Honestly, she didn't really care about his life story, but she listened anyway, he seemed to need to vomit it all out of his mouth in one big rush. Well, at least it was a happy moment, and really Sarah liked those moments -getting told over the phone that a grandparent had died were moments that she'd slink away from. Happy ones, she didn't mind getting hit with, not really.

"Congratulations?" She figured that if he'd been waiting for it, and it had finally come then maybe it was in need of that. "You can," she looked at her veg and then the burritos, "change dinner?" She didn't know what his power was, at all.

He was a nice kid, rather enthusiastic, didn't really hold back. She liked that -the only thing she never liked was repressed freaks with no sense to let go of emotions. Jesse wasn't repressed, so that was okay by her. "Guess you can stop waiting now."

She had a point. Could he only change food? That didn't sound like much of a power. Likely it would only land him a job with kitchen staff rather than the team but it was something. He wasn't just some boring normal. He wasn't just a grunt. He was one of them ( ... )
