"To learn, you have to be kicked in the ass" [OTA]

Today was just one of those days; those rare moments where Haylie slowly let her emotional walls down enough that she could start to process the things she normally allowed to fester and stew inside. Right now, the emotions playing out in her heart were the ones of fear and heartbreak from the attack on the base. If she reflected upon it enough and ( Read more... )

Now that there were plenty of showers to go around--thank god--Wade wasn't avoiding becoming a sweaty mess and continuing his daily training regime. He'd really have to thank Mac for doing such a speedy job. He was no Barbie, but showers were one of the best creations known to man. That, and fruit roll ups.

But the only problem with the training center was that it got crowded and was full of sweaty men. Just, ew. Wade liked being outside much better so once he'd done all he could in the gym he all but skipped to the outside training area to bask in the fresh air. Fresh, not being an understatement. Unstrapping his swords, he respectfully set them down on the ground before stretching a bit.

It'd been awhile since he'd practiced some of the old katas--his sensei would have his ass--and it'd probably be best if he practiced before he forgot them. They were really only for 'discipline' and whole bunch of other stuff Wade didn't think he needed on a regular basis, but, he didn't mind it for the moment. It was a nice day and a good way to

The smack and hardened glare only perked his interest more, making him laugh. She was more uptight than he'd thought. But she was smart enough to know who to go to in order to learn how to fight properly. For that, he'd give her the benefit of the doubt. This time.

"Oh fine. But I'm warning you, the more uptight you are, the harder this is going to be." Pulling himself up off the ground Wade walked over to where he'd placed his swords and pulled them back over his shoulders to strap across his chest. "We'll do it out here, starting at er,..." It'd probably be best to start first thing in the morning. But this wasn't boot camp. "Nine ish ok? Sun'll be up by then at least."

They needed to see what they were doing. Well. At least she did.

As per usual, Wade's reaction caught her off-guard and left her staring for a moment. Literally. However, the fact that he didn't refuse to train her after the reaction she had didn't go unappreciated. Getting to her feet easily, she dusted off her pants and nodded at him.

"That's fine. I'll meet you here, then."

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with the shower and a bar of Irish Spring. I really should suggest we switch to Dove--but I think Emma wants us to have itchy skin. Oh well." The last bit was more of him thinking out lout like he normally did.

But with that Wade gave her a nod and trotted off to the new building to go enjoy his shower, not having to wait for anyone else to stop using it, or go without. He had a nice little skip in his step. It was possible he was more excited for this than he'd thought he was.

As if it needed to be said again, Haylie was left just staring as Wade headed off towards the building.

Maybe one day she'd understand exactly how his mind worked. Or then again, maybe she was lucky enough to get this far.
