Enjoying the facilities

Nicky slid through the water of the pool muscles working together to pull him along. This was something he’d missed since they’d left Africa. In the water he was totally free even with the rules of the base. Razi lay curled up at the pools edge dozing on Nicky’s neatly folded clothing. Besides the Mess Hall he wasn’t sure if there was anywhere he ( Read more... )

Nicky looked up when she greeted him giving her a nod in return,"Nicky please."

Hearing his full name just made him think of Stryker. That was something he didn't want to have to think about. Nicky pushed his hair back again before ruffling Razi's fur. He slid back off the wall just treading water. The boy wasn't sure she was too interested in really sharing the pool. For now he'd just hang out by the side.

"I'm not. There is more to do here but I would prefer somewhere far less military,"he looked at her seriously.

At the flick of her head he pushed away from the wall swimming out into the water. Nicky had no idea if she knew anything about his past. If not she probably wouldn't understand. It would be like the others complaining about too many rules. He slid under the water for a moment before surfacing.

Jack was not in the best of moods, even for him. All these rules and regulations had him chafing at the bit. He'd never been good at that part of military life. The only reason he'd lasted as long as he had in 'Nam was because they needed men like him, ones who were good at both killing and staying alive.

Trying to work off some of the excess energy that was plaguing him, he'd been familiarizing himself with the base. It really was a marvel to him just how large it was. This was how he had ended up near the indoor pool. He didn't know anyone was even in there until the wet slap of flesh hitting the water reached his ears.

Pausing, he noticed Nicky, and wondered if he had somehow interrupted the boy. "Sorry, kid. Didn't think anyone would be in here."

Nicky looked up and smiled at the hunter. "Hey Jack. It's no problem it's a big pool you know."

He wasn't sure why the man had apologized to him. Not like he was bothering him or anything. Besides Nicky liked spending time with Jack. "Are you going to swim too? Pretty good for clearing your head."

"Some people like to be by their lonesome when exercising." Jack was one of them and had just come to expect the same from others. The thought hadn't really occurred to him Nicky would be one of the people who didn't.

He shook his head. "Nah. I'm not really much of a swimmer." It was good exercise, but the action was too passive for Jack. He needed to punch a bag (or a person) or lift some weights to truly clear his mind and help balance out his energies.

"That makes sense I guess,"Nicky nodded. If he'd grown up normally he probably would have been one of those people. As it was he was all too used to being watched constantly.

"I like the water now. It helps me think less,"he shrugged,"Razi doesn't really like it though. He's not a fan of water unless he's drinking it."
