open; late arrival

It had been somewhere around about 2am when Spencer's train had finally reached Washington, and then it had been a further hour and twenty minutes on a bus to Lincoln City before he was greeted, albeit stoically, by a member of the army. After so many hours travel and so many hours in cramped, confined space, Spencer just allowed himself to be ( Read more... )

Bradley was picking at a very runny egg with his fork when Spencer walked in. He'd never been an early riser, but he'd learned the hard way that if he didn't get up for breakfast, then he wouldn't get any. That cook ran his kitchen like a Nazi.

"New recruit?" He asked curiously when the other man walked by his table. It had been a while since any new mutants had joined the team, and Bradley was beginning to wonder if Stryker, or Emma, or whoever was running the show had finally reached their unspecified quota. Bradley just hoped this guy was friendly. They already had enough psychos who were way too eager to kill on base as it was.

"Though the signs might be a good idea." John muses as he listens to Bradley's description. "They ain't both that bad, Logan might come across as broody and miserable but he's a decent enough guy. Just gotta let him warm up to you, y'know?"

John glanced around trying to see if there was anyone else around to point out. "You've got Hendley, he hates mutants one an' all so avoid him. Stryker's got a bad case of the incontrol attitudes, just mind your tongue and tone with him. Apart from that though most people have got their vices and flaws but give any of them half a chance and they ain't so bad."

The warnings were a little bit worrying; at least this early in the game. Although it was helpful, he figured. Bradley and Wraith seemed friendly enough, their posture with each other was extremely relaxed, indicating they were good friends and that was encouraging at least. Bradley didn't seem the axe murdering type anyway.

"So long as I know how to not get murdered in my sleep, I think that's a pretty okay idea." He'd just avoid the ferals -as 'decent' as Logan might be, Spencer knew that he had a tendency to irritate at the worst moments. It was a personality flaw that often worked in his favour. He doubted it would work the same in this place.

"Can I just ask why there's a guy who hates mutants in a mutant heavy camp?"

Bradley stayed silent as Wraith put the best possible spin on Logan's personality, but it was clear from the expression on his face he disagreed. A feral was a feral, no matter how nice it seemed like he was. They all snapped in the end.

"Besides generally giving off the aura of 'scary as fuck,' Hendley serves as the one to make sure none of us make a break for it or anything. He's made a name tracking down mutants." Chris spoke quickly, as if wanting to get off such an unpleasant subject before speaking of the devil brought him near.
