Who Would Want To Be Sane? *OTA*

Martini was sprawled out in a chair his team's main room, trying to focus on the book in front of him. He had been attempting to distract himself from all sorts of lingering thoughts floating around his head. Most of them were not pleasant to dwell upon. It was so tempting to just forgo his medications again and retreat to the insanity again. At ( Read more... )

Tabby was humming as she walked through the halls, absently flicking open a Zippo lighter and playing at the flame with a grin, at least until she sees Martini marching with a look of total doom and gloom.
"Hey baby, you okay?"

He shot Tabby a quick grin, but it lacked warmth and failed to reach his eyes. It was like someone had sucked all of the happy right out of him. "Couldn't be better, dollface. Just trying to clear my head out."

"Liar. You know you can tell me what's really going on sweetie." She moves to his side and gives him a quick one arm hug around his hips.

"Why burden someone else with troubles that cannot be fixed?" His arms wrapped around himself, as if trying to keep all his thoughts from breaking him apart. For all his chatter, Mark was a fairly private person. Not even those close to him knew half of what he had been through.

"Martini?" Jason didn't like how upset his friend seemed. He wasn't sure if there was anything he could do about it but he could always try it. "What's wrong?"

He was still irritated with Emma's words and of course her rearrival in the camp. It could hurt Nicky and that enough was reason to not want her around.

Martini glanced at his young friend with a dark, troubled look in his eyes. He was no closer to making himself feel any less jealous than when he has stated to walk. "Stuff that you won't understand until you've fallen in love. Which, by the way, I recommend putting off for as long as possible."

"Love is stupid,"he scowled arms crossing over his chest. Jason had no plans to love it just meant more things that could be used against you.

Martini nodded his agreement. "And horribly complicated, and a whole host of other not so very nice things. All it does it make you worry and feel jealous." At the last part, a spark of anger flew into his eyes, resting there without leaving. "They say love is blind, but believe me, love is insane."

While he was sniffing around camp (quite literally), Kale bumped into the back of someone's legs. He glanced up, giving a yip to whoever it was, but he was sure it was the man he met when he arrived. The dog circled around and barked happily at Martini.

Martini felt something collide with the back of his knees. He was puzzled as to what it could be until he saw a familiar black nose and four paws yipping at him. "Fuzzy dog dude!" He stretched down a hand and scratched Kale behind one of his ears. It might not have cheered him up, but it did provide a welcome distraction.

Kale liked the scratching. It was always like someine patting him on the head in his normal form. He snarled a little that his name wasn't remembered. Maybe he should start wearing a collar...

The snarl made Martini jerk his hand back, frowning at the puppy. Getting bit would just be the cherry on top of an already crappy day. "Jeez, Kale! Lose your favorite bone or something?"

"We've met?" Martini could hardly be blamed for not remembering Roy right away. He'd been out of his mind. Still, Roy seemed familiar, and Mark had the odd sensation of associating him with Skittles. "No, I'm not. Today is a day that has been colored in with a gray Crayola."

There's a fuzzy memory in Martini's mind, but nothing concrete. "I remember eating Skittles." As he talks, he sneaks a hand inside the package and takes as few more. He shrugs at the mention of talking. "Nothing that wouldn't be out of place on a soap opera."
