No in flight movie ;; OTA

By the time Rogue's feet touched ground, she was close to collapsing. She'd taken the quickest route, straight across America, over the North Pacific ocean and into Asia. It'd been the more logical at the time, instead of having the option to stop over Europe and take longer, she'd just pushed herself to keep going ( Read more... )

*Walking well more like dance to the music in head around the camp. Mat looked towards the sky as she walked around the camp. Her head tilted as she watched a women fly over the fence and all but collapsed where she'd landed. Running over to her as she needed and wanted to make sure the woman wasn't hurt. She stopped short of running in to the woman.*

Excuse me? Are you alright?

Looking up, pushing her hair back slightly, Rogue offered a small smile, it didn't reach her tired looking eyes though. "Yeah, Ah'm fine. Jus' gotta get mah breath back."

It was tiring work, flying across continents, and this was only the second time she'd done it. Ms Marvels endurance came in handy sometimes.

Do you want me to get someone.

*She pointed behind her.*

Like someone from the med bay?

"Nah; really, Ah'm just a lil' bit tired, sugah." She didn't recognise the girl, which meant Stryker had hauled more people in since she'd taken her leave. She needed to find out if there was going to be issues about her absence as well.

And to keep Rictor from getting into trouble with that. "Y'know where the Major is?"

Ric was mostly over the remenants of his hangover having spent last night starting his celebrations early for "Cinco de Mayo." As it was technically a voluntarily-observed holiday he hadn't gone flat out instead, just choosing to over indulge a little to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. Not that he really remembered much from his history lessons other than his teacher had been pretty hot.

Heading outside to (as always) dig his feet down into the loose dirt and earth in his new favourite spot beneath the trees, he spotted someone kneeling down, head bowed forward as if simply unable to move due to exhaustion. Shoving his cigarettes back into his jacket pocket Ric strode over to where the young lady knelt but it was only as he drew close enough that he realised she looked remarkably familiar.

His step faltered and Ric stopped barely a two feet away from her.

"R... Ruby?"

His voice made her smile, and then it faltered. She'd left pretty suddenly. She'd offered no explanation. It didn't stop her being relieved to see him, as she stood up, a little windswept, a little worse for wear, but then why shouldn't she be.

"Hey sugah." Her voice was low, tentative. She just stood up straight, pushing her hair from her face and remaining right where she was, "How...how've y' been?"

It'd been a month or so, he didn't look terrible, he looked okay, better than she felt, but still.

At least with Ophelia Ric had been given the chance to say goodbye, to not just lose her without any note or warning. Ric knew deep down that he had done the same to many others before but with Rogue it had hurt more; as she had been like a little sister to him. Had helped him out and listened to him when Ric had been so lost and confused.

Had she not been a woman and had Ric been less of a man he would have punched her. Instead he kept his distance, watching Rogue carefully. She looked exhausted, drained and all he really wanted to do was pull her into his arms and prove to himself she was real.

Maybe Martini wasn't the one going insane? Maybe it was Ric.

"I'm... alright. You?"

The distance was painful, the shortness even worse so. But Rogue knew she deserved it, maybe she was more like her mother than she wanted to believe. "Ah've been better." She wasn't going to start lying to him now.

She wanted to explain, to tell him why, but it all just felt like excuses. Her mothers had needed her, Irene couldn't do it on her own and Raven was locked up, tortured. She had to go. But she could've told him.

Her gaze didn't falter from him, not at all. He didn't look too bad, a little rough, but then he usually looked rough. "Anything excitin' goin' on?" New camp, new people probably. Maybe more than just her having been gone.

If Ophelia's reappearance had been a pleasant surprise, Rogue's was like a punch to the gut. With Martini's mind getting turned into Swiss cheese over the past few weeks, he'd become nervous and jumpy. Dark circles were under his eyes where none had been before, and there was a worn look to his face, like someone trying to fight off an illness.

When Rogue touched down like an angel out of the blue sky, Martini refused to believe it. "No." He backed up, eyes full of fear. Not again. His mind was showing him someone who wasn't there again. That's what it was. He never for a moment considered the fact that Marie really was back. "No no no no no!"

She took it as a bad reaction; hearing the chant, she wasn't sure if he was angry at her, upset with her or what. It was the fear that threw her.

"Darlin' y' okay there? Y' don't gotta run 'way from me, 'tini, sugah." No; that fear was what told her this wasn't a normal reaction. She knew his Things, knew how cruel they could be at times. It made her hope it wasn't her.

"Marti...Mark?"

Rogue's well-intended reassurances only served to agitate him further. His hands flew up to his eyes, pawing at them madly as if trying to claw them out. "Stop it! Stop showing me this..." He trailed off, unwilling to put any more resistance.

He just collapsed in a heap on the ground, not able to try and fight what he was convinced his mind was tormenting him with. He shut his eyes, shaking a little as he muttered to himself. "Not real....can't be....not again...."

"Darlin'" she left her bag when he collapsed, rushing to his side and catching his shoulders, "Oh, Ah'm sorry, sugah, Ah'm so sorry." Her arm wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him to lean on her, hand rubbing down his back to help stop the shakes.

"What's not real, sugah? What ain't happening?" Even as she looked around, knowing that she wouldn't be able to find anything, she wished that he had it a little easier. "It's okay darlin', ain't nothing gonna hurt ya. Ah won't let 'em."

Fred had been considering going the route of Martini and climbing the fence so that he could jump into the sea. The weather was driving him that crazy. He glared up at the sun and considered giving it the finger.

As he was about to go back inside and cool down with an ice-cold soda, he noticed someone in the middle of the camp. He did not give the girl in the distance that much thought until he saw a streak of white in her hair.

"Oh ma gawd..."

Fred broke into a run and was glad Victor was not around to see the sight, because despite the fact that he still could run, it was a silly sight indeed. But right now he hardly cared.

"Rogue??" he called out as he ran toward her.

The sight was slightly amusing, but Rogue had more wits about her than to laugh, she just smiled softly, "Fred." The fact that he seemed happy, glad, relieved maybe? It made her smile wider.

Brushing herself off, unbuttoning the collar of her long coat, she threw her bag over her shoulder and trudged on, fighting down that tiredness. "Hey there, sugah. Ya miss me?"

She knew she could joke with Fred, if he was annoyed, he'd tell her, and she'd apologise and they'd be fine. She hoped.

Once Fred finally caught up, he came to an abrupt stop. He almost pulled her into his arms for a bear hug, but he hesitated and thus stood there in front of her, feeling awkward.

"Hey," he said, giving a careful grin. He walked with her, feeling foolish for making a spectacle of himself. He was happy to see her. More than happy. Overjoyed.

"Yeah, maybe," he said answering her question of whether or not he had missed her. Of course he had. But he was afraid to say exactly how much. "Just a little bit." He eyed her luggage.

"You need help with that?" he asked, forgetting about her strength.

She sighed slightly, her strength a little drained from the flight. Dropping the bag she tilted her head, "Oh, y'd be a darlin' if y' would. But," she shrugged lightly, having noticed the hesitation.

She liked Fred, he was a good friend, a great friend. His appearance seemed to bother him more than it bothered a lot of people though, and Rogue couldn't really understand why.

Although she had her own vain streak, she didn't truly understand it.

"But Ah kind'a thought Ah'd get a hug hello?"

Her hand raised before her head, she was okay in the sense of uninjured, not so much in the state of utter exhaustion, "Ah'm good, Ah'm...fine."

Fine had a very loose definition in Lousianna it seemed. She struggled to her feet, shoulders dropped down and head tilting to the side, another new one? Stryker had to be stealing them from somewhere.

"Hey there."

She took the water with a smile, taking a few sips to try and get her breath back, "Ah jus' need a little rest, that's all." It was a lot to travel, and on no sleep, yeah, she was about ready to drop dead. Offering the bottle back, she nodded, "Thanks, sugah."

It helped, although she wouldn't feel herself until a good night and day rest or sleep, and then maybe some food. "Ah'm from a little bit of everywhere," with Irene and Raven, she'd travelled a fair little bit, "but Ah'm a Mississippi girl at heart."

Which was also where she'd gotten her accent, "Name's Rogue, darlin', pleasure t' meet'cha." She would've offered her hand, if she wasn't wary of contact even through her gloves.
