She was in a bit of a trance as she wandered to the mess hall, looking for something to eat and a mug of tea to mull over things again.
She hadn't been expecting there to be too much traffic from the others at this time.

Nodding slightly, he looked over and managed a brief smile.
"Afternoon." It wasn't exactly the best conversation starter, but Manuel figured that it was in the very least polite.

Not that she was a one girl social butterfly. But most of the time, you saw the faces around camp. Even when you never spoke a word to them.

"Si. I don't get out a lot." he chuckled and poured his coffee, adding just a touch of sugar. "Been avoiding it for the most part." Despite the fact that usually he did enjoy social outings, he just had to avoid them for his own sanity.

It was weird. But it was nice.
She filled a glass from the tap and drank half of it, then refilled it. When she turned around, she spotted a familiar frame. A smile crawled over her lips and she tiptoed behind him. She figured she wouldn't surprise him, that he'd feel her coming, but she was going to try anyway. She slid her arm over his shoulder and let her hand trail down his chest, then pressed her lips to his ear. "Hey baby."

Setting down his coffee cup, he reached up and slid his warm hand over hers, grinning softly. "Good afternoon, querida." he rumbled, his voice deep as he turned and pulled her into him, leaning against the counter.

"You okay?" Her hand reached up to stroke through his hair, then held to his cheek for a minute. She knew he tended to avoid the mess for anything other than food, since the crush of emotions was overwhelming. Allison tended to talk about stupid crap during meals. She'd managed to go on for twenty minutes about Where's Waldo? the previous night. Yet, here he was, in the mess without her. "You being social?" There was a hopeful tone in her voice. She was attempting the social thing, too. She pushed onto her toes and kissed him softly.

The intensity of the emotions around here, particularly since they were cooped up with little outlet, tended to drive Manuel off of the deep end on the best days. He'd lost a little weight since coming here simply by avoiding meals when he could, and he knew that wasn't entirely healthy. He chuckled, nodding, an almost rueful look on his face.
"Yes. I figured it would be helpful to try and get to know some of my teammates."
