After half his life -more than half his life- in the Air Force, he'd been through a fair amount of combat that he'd figured he was ready for anything. Even with the whole 'I shoot spikes out of my bones' thing added in, he was still fairly prepared

But the quiet didn't last long. When the sound of gunshots filled the air, Logan felt a pang of alarm, his ears perking up. He calmed down a little when there were no sirens or other signs of distress, and no one shooting back; at least they weren't under attack. Still, he walked to where the shots were being fired, wanting to check it out. It turned out someone was using trees for target practice. Great.
"You know people walk through these woods, right?"
Not that many people would walk this far out, and they'd hear the shots from far away if they did, but accidents did happen. Also, Logan was simply not in a mood to play nice. He rarely was.

And anyone walking in the woods would hear him like Logan had. Fair enough, accidents happened, but Jane wasn't in the habit of shooting wide. He had two trees with targets nailed to them by his spikes.
He hadn't planned of missing.

"You got a problem with trees?"
He looked over at the targets. What the hell were those things the guy had used to pin them to the trees?

Which wasn't exactly true, although he was a firm believer in never getting rusty with his side arm. "Is there anything else I can do for the self appointed safety officer?"
This probably wasn't the right way to go about not annoying people.

She was wound up like a spring.
It may not have been wise to be in the woods, but she'd shifted her shape into that of a lynx, a type she knew to be native to this part of Europe at least, and she'd decided to take a run.
While she was leaping through the snow, she heard the gunshots and crept nearer to the sound, debating shifting back into her human form. She had physical power in this form, though, so if there was a problem she could somewhat protect herself.
Spotting a man, her ears flattened and she crouched down low into the snow, trying to place him. She hadn't seen him before, but she made no move to get closer. He had a firearm.

Looking up from his weapon he considered slightly. He hadn't heard of the animals coming this close to the base, or just sitting there. He fired into the tree another three times, his clip emptying at the final shot.
While he switched clips, he kept his eye on the animal. If came closer, he decided. Only when a threat presented itself, because really, he wasn't one for killing without cause. Regardless of species.

The sound of the gun firing reminded her of the trick shot they'd had once at the circus. The man had been talented to say the least, just as this man seemed to be. Of course, he wasn't flipping off of the sides of boxes and shooting things, but she wasn't exactly going to ask him to do that.
The cold of the snow didn't bother her and she pushed up, shaking it off before she shifted back to her normal self.
"You're quite a good shot."

He really wasn't sure what you said to a woman, complimenting your shooting, after just being a fairly large lynx. "You...wander around here like that often?"
He'd really be thinking twice before shooting anything other than targets and trees now. And that made him pause. Then shake it off.
