Jean gets the hell out of the medlabs. [for Sinister]

Cranky.

That was probably the best adjective for Jean. She'd been stuck in the medlabs for nearly two weeks as her chest healed up under the very close supervision of the new doctor. A nasty little infection had taken up residence in her body, and her own stubbornness had made it worse than it needed to be. It was her own fault she was stuck there ( Read more... )

Sinister hadn't heard from Martini again, but that didn't mean the young man had been forgotten. He'd been scouring charts, trying to dig up files, and dreaming of blood and tissue samples that he knew would be very hard to obtain under the best of circumstances. In another place he might have simply changed his face and his identity to try and win Martini's trust but it didn't seem prudent here and now. He'd have to be patient. And speaking of patients.

"Dear Jean," Sinister said, closing the file in front of him and pushing it away. He leaned back, folding his arms over his chest and looking at her. "So anxious still? Were the books I brought you so terrible?" His voice was a little dry. He was poking fun.

Jean sighed lightly. She'd gotten used to his demeanor, her usual tantrums and other ways of trying to get her way failing utterly in the past two weeks. It was like being back at Xavier's, having to mold her behavior to get the most positive results. Yet, there was still that voice in her head that told her to listen. It was getting on her damned nerves.

"The books were fine." In the two weeks, she'd gotten through the copy of Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde he'd provided her. The book on manners was very nearly thrown in the garbage, and the rest laid ignored. She hadn't actually sat down and read a book in a long time, and it was almost pleasurable. "I'd really like to get back to my own bed, though." Her voice was monotone, bored. She did appreciate him having taken care of her while she was ill. Now, she simply wanted to get the hell out and away from him.

He made her uncomfortable; not an easy task for people.

Sinister would have been proud knowing that she attached the word uncomfortable to him. He knew it wasn't a word that she probably used often in reference to herself. Though the truth was that he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Sinister wanted Jean to respect him. To heed him. He didn't want to be her friend--and indeed, even being in the same camp was, in some regards he knew, a bad idea. But Charles had lead her so far astray. Wrongs needed to be righted. She needed to learn things ( ... )

Any attempt at being anything resembling submissive fell away the minute he mentioned Logan. "Funny." Logan hadn't ever been in her bed anyway. He'd been in Olivia's, but that was a different story entirely.

"Is that what's required for me to leave? A checklist of any and all that might be making an appearance between my sheets?" She unfolded her arms and stepped into the office, letting her back lean against the door frame instead of her side. "Is that important to your research?"
