lazy man-child is lazy (OTA)

It was mid-afternoon and he'd missed lunch. And breakfast. That was fine. He was used to doing things himself anyway so, now, Jamie was at the stove, keeping his eyes on what he hoped would end up a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich and a pot of chicken soup. He had a bad habit of becoming mildly distracted and things burned just slightly. It was ( Read more... )

Kurt stumbled through the hallways with his eyes half-open. He was sure that it was probably too late to be just getting out of bed but his internal clock was not synched up with Russia and so his boots were untied, his camo shirt untucked... really it was lucky his fly was up and his image-inducer on. Dirty blonde hair stuck up at impossible-looking angles.

It smelled like food. Like slightly burnt cheese. It called Kurt like a bright shiny beacon.

Following the smell through a few rooms, Kurt made the last turn into the kitchen with his nose up and sniffing and eyes nearly shut and ran straight into the far edge of the prep counter.

At least, anyone else would have. Kurt merely disappeared with a quiet bamf noise and as pink smoke crawled over the counter in his wake, he himself reappeared sitting next to Jamie and rubbing his eye with a fist. "Guten morgen," he yawned.

Kurt was grinning openly now as well and he shook Jamie's hand tightly. "I think you might be right about that." He raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to eat that soup?" Now that the tough questions were settled, all his attention was back to his stomach.

A small voice in the back of his head asked him if Jamie would be so quick to be his friend if he knew what Kurt really looked like, but...

It was pushed away. It wasn't like he a different person while he was wearing the image-inducer, he just looked a little different.

Jamie looked from the soup to Kurt for a moment before sliding it over with a smile.

"All yours. I don't think I'm awake enough for food." His internal clock was still way off.

Kurt laughed quietly. "I think I eat in my sleep," he joked, picking up the spoon. He took a few slurps and then looked up at Jamie, teeth broth from his lower lip. "If your..." Kurt paused, searching for the word. "Duplikat?," he said mostly to himself. He gestured with the spoon to where Jamie's other self had been. "Your twin. If he eats, are you full?"

Jamie nodded at the question, scratching the back of his neck slightly. "Yep. We share a telepathic/empathic link. Anything they learn, I learn when I reabsorb them. If one of them gets hurt, I feel it."

He paused a moment, scrubbing his fingers through his hair. Now, unintentionally, it matched Kurts hair. It stuck up in many a different direction but Jamie didn't care. Mostly because he didn't know.

"What about you? How does your ability work?"

Kurt thought that Jamie's ability, while handy, sounded rather dangerous. If a duplikat died, did that mean Jamie would as well? He didn't want to ask and instead filled his mouth with soup.

"I don't really know," Kurt answered after swallowing, one shoulder coming up in a shrug. "I just am here and then think about going there..."

Bamf.

Kurt reappeared on an open space of counter, cross-legged, with the bowl of soup in one hand and the spoon in the other. There was nothing left in his spot but some pinkish smoke and perhaps the stink of brimstone. From the counter he shrugged and took another mouthful. "I like to know where I'm going though," he said. "I don't think that I'd look so good with a sofa sticking out of my head, ja?"
