Culture Shock... [OTA]

Olivia sat, tense and taut, her eyes glued to the window to her right side. The passing countryside was stark and white, lined with thin trees with bare branches that reached to the sky like bony fingers and the panic that rose within Olivia was quickly tamped down.

She couldn't panic. She could do this. She would be protecting people. Making a ( Read more... )

*Talia walked around the complex still trying to find something to do that could be considered useful in a military camp. She was so lost in her own thoughts that when a new woman had arrived she hadn't even noticed her until she ran into her.*

I'm sorry, are you okay? *Talia looked up slightly dazed at the woman she had run into.*

Jolted out of her own thoughts, Olivia's eyes went wide as she caught herself from falling, her heavy duffel bag throwing her a little off balance. She blinked at the young woman who'd run into her and she nodded.

"Oh yes, quite fine. Thank you. Are you alright?"

I'm fine thank you. *Talia blushed slightly with embarrassment. Talia cocked her head to the head slightly, trying to remember if she had seen the woman before. Deciding that she hadn't.*

Are you new here?

Olivia wasn't angry at the girl in the slightest. She knew that accidents happened and since she didn't have a second head or a third eye or fur or anything she wasn't immediately afraid. Just wary.

But polite. She couldn't help but be polite.

"Yes, I am. Olivia, Olivia Ranulf." she extended her hand and then thought better of it, pulling it back with a wince.

He'd been sitting on the roof of the garage as the jeep rolled in, sulking and brooding, the events of the past few days running through his mind in an endless loop of confusion, pain and a feeling that he was starting to identify as guilt. As the new arrival stepped from the vehicle he glanced up, noting that it was a female, and realising to his shame that this fact wasn't exciting him as much as it should. Normally, he'd jump at the chance to impress them, intimidate them, but ever since Emma had cut him off, the thought just didn't excite him any more.

Maybe he was just out of practice.

Moving with a fluid, cat-like grace, he neared the edge of the roof and dropped to the ground, drawing himself to his full height and striding towards the girl with a sour look on his face. Perhaps if he could get some kind of reaction from her, it'd make him feel better.

Olivia stood there, numb, staring at the compound and the snow. This wasn't what she'd expected, to be honest, but it was her home for now. She glanced over at the movement, watching in dread as someone dropped off of the roof.

A very large mean looking someone. Straightening a little, Olivia swallowed and backed up a step, the movement involuntary as her knuckles whitened around the strap of her bag.

She was scared of him. Good. That already made him feel better. He could tell from her stance just how nervous she was, catch the slight scent of her fear, and it added a swagger to his step as he walked up to her, stopping barely a metre away, his six-foot-six frame towering over her as the hint of a smile tugged at his features.

"Guess you're not in Kansas any more, huh."

Of course she was scared of him. He was more terrifying than any stranger she'd ever come across, his height alone making her cower a little. She swallowed and shook her head just slightly, adjusting her bag in a nervous gesture.

"New York." Olivia murmured. "Not Kansas."

Jamie was still exploring. The place was desolate, cold and very very boring and Jamie was already set to leave. He really should have chosen the jail option.

He was just now wandering back in the direction of his room when he spotted Olivia. One look at her face and he hurried over, frowning.

"What the fuck happened to you?"

Olivia looked up, drawing back as someone rushed over to her. He looked fairly harmless, truth be told, but she knew that looks could be deceiving. Thinking of Victor, she knew they could also be very true.

Glancing down, she folded her arms and shook her head. "I made someone angry."

"No, shit," Jamie said, frowning a little more. It barely dawned on him that showing the woman this had him upset was probably not the wisest idea. Letting his face relax some, he tilted his head down the hall.

"Come on. I'll get you to the med-wing. They'll have something for your injuries."

Manners, Jamie. Learn you some. He held his hand out, trying to smile reassuringly. "I'm Jamie. Who hit you?"

That didn't quite last long, did it?

Olivia warmed just a little, seeing that he was truly upset, and she chewed on her lower lip for a second before realizing that hurt and she stopped.

"I don't really want to go there. This...this is really nothing. I'll be okay. I'm sure some ice will work." Of course, her side hurt too, but that would bruise. She'd been injured horseback riding, so she knew what that felt like.

She glanced at his hand. "Olivia. I don't know who it was. He was very tall and had...claws." Looking down at his hand again, she frowned. "I'm sorry, I really shouldn't touch you...my power might affect you."
