One Flew East, One Flew West...

He never slept, but for once, Martini very much wished he could. He had too much on his mind, and no relief to find from it in the realm of dreams, or any other distraction he tried. He turned over, lying on his bed, as much out of habit as anything else. God, even Atticus had managed to find relief in slumber tonight. Thoughts flitted through his ( Read more... )

He was glad to have been sent on a mission, to get out of the barracks for a while. The new arrivals where coming in on boat loads, and for someone who was used to solidarity it was driving X-13 a bit up the wall. He mostly kept to himself, saying nothing to no one and did work on his own. When Scion was approached for a mission, he took it gladly especially since it was a solo mission. THank you higher ups ( ... )

What? Why had he been stopped? His eyes turned toward Scion, not so much seeing him as going right through him. It was obvious wherever Martini's mind was at, it was not there in the present with X-13. He tried to jerk his wrist away, but Scion held fast. He wished he could make the intruder understand. If he could only just find a way to get through this wall. But his powers of speech appeared to have been compromised as well. As it was, he merely stood there passively, eyes vaguely staring past Scion, down the hall.

Martini wasn't there with him, at least not in mind. The telekinetics eyebrow perked as the time manipulator tried to jerk his hand away but failed to do so. The wall, it was something about this wall that was throwing his 'team mate' off its end. Scion frowned, his hand still strong on the others bloody wrist, his eyes slipping to the side slowly ( ... )

Martini gasped as Scion invaded his mind. There wasn't any physical pain, but the sensation threw him off even more then he already was. It was a most curious feeling, having his mind riffled through like a book in a library. Although a better analogy would have been riffling through random pages ripped from various books, and scattered on the floor in no particluar order, mixed in with some blank pages and newspaper ads ( ... )

*Edie had been sleeping rather peacefully. She'd fallen asleep quickly, hitting the deep stage of REM not too long after. The strong spike in emotions was what woke her.

Without a thought, Edie was out of bed, dressed in decent enough clothing and heading towards the men's dorms before she'd had much time to think otherwise.

Walking down the hall she spotted him. Martini, standing in the hall, looking extremely distraught.*

Martini didn't even notice her, so enraptured was he in his own world. His fingers scraped against the wall for what could have either been the first or one hundredth time. He had lost all sense of time and reason, a regression into a side that hadn't been seen in a very long time, before the team and the lab, all the way back to his days in the mental institution.

*To say Edie was shocked was an understatement. She'd had no idea what to expect, but what she saw certainly wasn't it.*

Martini?

*She approached slowly, frown firmly in place at the negative emotions in her head. She reached out gently, hand curling around one of his and pulling it, carefully away from the wall.*

Now what, another distraction? He looked to over to where Edie had pulled one of his hands away. What did this one think she was doing? Or was she even here, even real? Was any of it? That seemed to be the eternal question, and he had never found the answer to it, no matter how hard he searched. He stood there, eyes not even staring at the hallway but at whatever was in his own mind at the moment, not even noticing as the blood ran down his and Edie's hands.
