In the Mess;

Evan sat at one of the tables, nursing a now cold mug of coffee and playing with a folded and shredded napkin. He'd already put on his thermals, a half dozen pair of socks -which meant his boots didn't lace up, two pairs of pants and his five t-shirts under his military issue jacket. Pyro had even given him a pair of fingerless gloves. The guy ( Read more... )

Get to know your team mates, he had been ordered. Scion would have to work with them eventually, so it was better to know them now and trust them than to go in to their situations blinded, or so he was told.

The thing was Scion already knew all of his teammates, from their files. It was his job to know, however personally? Not at all. He had met a few here and there, but X-13 didn't go out on a limb to say hi how are you or all that jazz. He kept to himself, kept quiet and kept out of the way until he was ordered to ( ... )

Evan looked up, a little startled at first but nodded slightly, pushing his floppy, blond hair back over his head.

"Yeah, course. Free mess hall and all that." This one had to be new, newer than him at least. Or just back from a mission. What did Emma say? Select few were given these confidential missions and were away for periods of time. Maybe that was what this one was like.

"Um, I'm Evan," and he offered his hand. This meeting people thing was sometimes a little weird. Especially with the powers. He was always half expecting someone with scales to walk in.

When he was given permission to sit, Scion nodded and placed his tray table down on the table, sitting just behind it. On the plate there was rice, vegetables, meats, a number of pills in a cup, a protein shake and a glass of water. He set his fork on one side of the plate, his knife on the other and began to unfold his napkin properly at the side of his dish.

Evan than offered his hand, and X-13's eyes looked up from his place on the table. Of course he was Evan, Evan Hoiser. Age, twenty five. British american. Blond hair. Brown eyes. Mutation: Endorphins Manipulation. Scion knew all of this, because he was ordered to. He knew his team mates files backwards and forwards.

...Oh, this was introductions. Trying to be normal as the higher ups would say. Infiltration, thats all Scion had to think of this as. Just another mission ( ... )

To Evan, the guy seemed almost robotic, like Deathstrike only worse, and honestly, he hadn't thought that was at all possible. The meticulous way he set everything out, the way he seemed to almost contemplate the offered hand, his name -really, even Deathstrike was better than X-13. That was just a letter and two numbers.

"That's your name?" He didn't rightly intend to be rude -not at all. But he couldn't help it. This mutant community was incredibly new to Evan; before hand he'd always just been another face in a big city. Now he was one more mutant in a group of mutants.

Which was fine. Mostly.

"Isn't that just like, a codename or whatever?" Because that would make sense, as obviously, Pyro wasn't actually called Pyro. "Don't you have a proper name?"

*El walked into the mess hall and set about making a coffee. It was when she turned around and leant against the counter that she noticed the blonde man sitting there, looking at his own mug.*

Are you gunna sit there and look at it or would you like a new one?

*She smiled when he turned around.*

"I'm waiting for it to tell me the meaning of life." Evan remarked, not turned and still staring into his mug. "So far, it hasn't been very forth coming."

Then, he did turn, a small smile on his face. He was still bloody cold, but it wasn't as bad as during the night. "You think it has to sign some kind of waver or something? A disclosure to never reveal the secrets?"

*She made her coffee and approached, this time remembering to put in the sugar.*

I have no idea. If I ever meet a coffee that can talk, I'll make sure to ask.

*She indicated the seat across from him.*

Mind if I sit?

"No, no. On you go." Evan was a little starved for company lately. He didn't really like going outside to play with Ophelia as much, and Esme or Emma were a little distracted by certain things. Sure, Pyro was company, but the firestarter was a bit of a sarcastic fuck.

"I'm Evan, I don't think I've met you before?"
