introduction and a question.

I come from one of the current unemployment capitals of Canada: Windsor, Ontario. Most of my friends and the people I meet are unemployed, have been for some time, and are constantly on the job hunt. I know a few people with jobs, but mostly it's either temporary work or part-time stuff so slim they're lucky to get 10 hours a week. The luckier of ( Read more... )

You could also look around for volunteer work. Soup kitchens and the like are obvious choices, but consider local theater companies or schools or whatnot. They can be excellent opportunities to build contacts, as well as generally broaden your horizons.
If you're lucky, you'll get the first few servings of whatever the soup kitchen is serving, thereby saving yourselves a meal.

Board game nights are always fun. I like to spend time in the park as well. Or perhaps having a baking party (as baking supplies are generally cheap) and throwing a little tea party. I like tea, and it's not too expensive an afternoon event. Going to garage sales on the weekends can be really fun too. Even if you don't have a lot to spend, you can poke around at other people's things. Or even organizing one of your own.. for your friends and family!

Hiii :D

You know well what I did: take up anarchy.

But on the serious side, long walks are free. I know you play guitar so try doing that more often. Music is free. Look around for a free rag that lists local activities like art galleries, music festivals and the like. Some also have coupons that you can use to help save money too.

Volunteering is another fun activity. For example, I volunteer with a group that puts on a summer festival to perpetuate the use of organics and natural stuff. If I volunteer 4 hours a day, I get in free to an otherwise $15 festival, the organisation feeds me all day, and I get to hear the music they hire for the event. Oh, and I got a t-shirt. So look around until you can find a gig like that. I bet it'd be hella fun to do with friends.

hello there, i'll post my introduction soon, but i have looked into doing things that were suggested above. I currently help out a local theater group in clifton park in ny but i may look for one closer since i live in albany, ny. i also take part as a volunteered 'official' for an all ladies rollerderby team.
you could find some local sports team or a group to support, go to free events or low cost--students usually are offered discounts with ID, maybe volunteer at a school or library ?-teaching, reading groups -or just maybe find a book club in the area. exercising as a group is good as well.
