right now i'm doing online job applications or emails for 99% of the job searching i'm doing.  now that i am following up my emails/applications a week after i complete them i usually try to do this over the phone. if i leave 2 voice messages without a response i send an email out before trying the phone again ( Read more... )

Try " I know you're obviously very busy, so I just wanted to let you know I am still interested in talking with you further about the position when you have the time".

Another tip.. NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK, if you know someone in an org or even people in the area, they can help you find the majority of good openings NOT found online.

ah that is something i can say!

networking...idk about that one. i've lived in my current city(fort wayne, IN) since june 2010 and i and my boyfriend have never lived in IN before and don't know any family or anything..before that i was living in VA for a year and didn't know anyone but my boyfriend initially either.

my last and first real life job(which to me means not customer service/movies/resturant) after graduating college in 2009 was a group home company in VA. it was pretty bad and they fired me and afterwards asked me in writing to turn in a resignation letter. i have also yet to get any tax forms from them and i think that will be another struggle.

i know some places have said try volunteering but i'm wondering will volunteering and not earning anything to the household be really worth it with gas prices increasing?
