The open space in the center of camp has been cordoned off for the last couple of days, Ethan has been over seeing as the ground is remarked with clear distinction of combatant training areas. Posters have been dotted around camp notifying the team that they are all expected to attend the team training days that are up coming. First of all is the

She did the rest of her PT fairly well, average they would say. Lorna hated being classed as average, there was nothing average about her, thank you very much. But that was where they classed her -speed, agility, stamina, all of it. Average.
She knew how to fight. She'd been given a few classes, done the whole 'empower yourself' back in Beverly Hills when they had a peeping Tom on the loose and all the females in the school were given self-defence classes. But this was probably a little more than kick them in the balls, poke them in the eye, bite them in the hand sort of fighting.
This, honestly, was not her bag.

He smiles at Lorna, glancing up from his paperwork and noting down everything that she's done with her p/t so far.
"Okay let's see what you can do. If you're comfortable with it I want you to spar with me, see if you can land a hit and we'll look t osee if there are any areas of weakness that we can work on." By this point in the day Ethan is just about ready to play nice because he's got Wilson out of the way. Thank goodness.

When push came to shove though, and if Lorna ever had to deal without her powers, she'd be fighting dirty all the way. "So, I bruise easy, and purple sort of clashes with green." She flicked a strand of her bangs out of her face, back to where her ponytail was rather poorly held together.
But surely the Captain would be more than skilled enough to not bruise up Lorna. "One of us has to be good at this, right?" Nerves made her talk a little.

Yes, Ethan did just crack a joke and the world didn't end.
"I've no intention of bruising you anyway, wouldn't look to good if everyone showed up to see Emma sporting an injury of some sort." Though some members of the team could do with a good ass kicking from time to time.

And as great as the Captain seems; fair and open minded and pretty much okay on the all around, Lorna is still pretty sure that Emma could wipe the floor with his good-boy ass. Without issue. That is the way of hero worship.
With the gloves on, and Lorna not weeping for her manicure, Polaris punches her fists together like she'd seen in the movies and rolls the tension out of her shoulders. "Right, lets go." And she can hit a target fairly well, even if it's not with too much strength.

Ethan guides Lorna through three rounds of simply punches and kicks, making sure to point out any areas of weakness when she lets her guard drop. He demonstrates some combination moves, watching as Lorna carries them out.
"You seem to have the technique, it's just the strength you put behind your punches that needs to be focused on. Go on, try to hit me as hard as you can, I'll even allow you a shot at punching my stomach, not my face to include an incentive."

Getting the direction on the training is helpful, she doesn't usually get that much in the way of hand-to-hand training and although she can passably defend herself, she knows she relies heavily on her powers.
"Wow, you're the first guy that's ever asked to be hit. Are you sure I can't just demonstrate the awesome that is my open palmed slap to the face? I've had a hell of a lot of practice on that?" It's not that she's overly worried or anything -she's pretty pathetic really, it's not like she'd actually be able to hurt him. Ever. It's just that she really is good at slapping guys.

That said it could just be Emma in general.
"I'm sure your slapping skills are admirable but I particularly want to see what your punch is like." Ethan isn't concerned with whether the punch will hurt or not, he wants to observe Lorna's technique and then he can help her improve on it.

Bringing her fist back, and in a manner shown to her by Emma, bringing it back up, Lorna executes a crude kind of uppercut to punch Sykes in the gut. There's a little bit of strength in it, but not nearly as much as she can get with her powers. Or a swift boot to the balls. Which is all she really needs sometimes.
"See, shit. I told you, I slap harder."

But that doesn't mean Ethan won't be showing Lorna how to throw a decent punch. Moving to stand behind Lorna, Ethen guides her hands up and leans around her, to demonstrate a correct punch stance and move. He repeats the gesture over, explaining how to twist her arm to ensure that Lorna doesn't harm herself and be mindful of not tucking her thumb into her fist.
"Now," Ethan, once happy with the practice, returns back to standing opposite Lorna. "Try it again."

So, Sykes taking her through the move, step at a time with the directions, Lorna committed it all to memory, concentrating on what she was being shown and correcting herself.
Trying it on her own, Lorna gave herself the mental slap in the face and just did it, going exactly how Sykes had shown her before and minding her thumb. "Better?"
Reply
"Much." Filling in the green form Ethan hands it over to Lorna. "I'll look int otailoring your p/t around some more defensive skills but beyond that I think it's pretty safe to say you are free to go find Frost and move onto the next part of your assessment."

But Sykes was probably right; when it came to bare bones, and Lorna had to fight for her life without powers, she'd likely resort to the kicking, slapping, hair pulling way of her youth.
