Rain barrel in operation and the Rob McKenna factor

Rain barrel works, although it is a bit leaky around the spout. Toad was convinced when he woke up in the morning that the spigot and the hose bib would have shot out of the barrel. They did not. The glue did hold ( Read more... )

dad wanted a rain barrel too. I don't think his wife will allow anything that toad makes, so i suggested he get one from a garden store.

Essentially, we are in drought too, just not as severe. If it got really bad, we could use rain barrel water for the toilet.
I know it's not potable, but i wonder if backpacking type water filtration would make it so if one really needed it for making tea or soup. I'd be leary of drinking it even after filtration without boiling it if i were giving it to somebody else. Me, i'm a drink from a hose kinda girl. I've never had a problem, more problem from a slice of bread for me. :)
