How do you always know exactly what I want to read?

:DD I just wish some of these stories actually existed! Although, have you ever watched Horatio Hornblower? Because this story is canon!

(Brendon's been on limited rations for so long already that when his friends are captured, he figures he can go without a bit more. Because he can deal with being imprisoned himself, but it hurts to see Ryan and Spencer and Jon so tired and hungry.)

Hornblower is an h/c extravaganza. Also, they are so very pretty.

Oh, gosh, are you sure you want to get me started? I could do this forever.

So they are sailors in the Royal Navy! Spencer can be the Hornblower character, the promising new upstart with little experience but a lot of potential! And Brendon has been sailing for some years, and been through some bullying/trouble from some older midshipmen (that part's from canon too!). I'm not sure quite how to place Ryan and Jon, but probably they're midshipmen too.

Brendon would have run away from home at some point, so he doesn't have any sort of support system, and nothing to fall back on if running off to sea doesn't go well. But when the war starts, he gets transferred to a new ship with Spencer and Ryan and Jon, and things are starting to look better. He's happier than he's been in years - until an accident in the middle of a sea battle leaves him knocked out on a rowboat accidentally set adrift into the middle of the ocean! DDDDD:

:DDDDD

He keeps waiting for someone to rescue him, but they all think he's dead, so no one comes!

And when they do it's only because they are captured to, which is even worse! Brendon would much rather his friends be free than stuck in prison with him. :(

He tells them so, sadly, but they all shout him down for being ridiculous, because of course they'd rather be starving in prison with him than blithely sailing around thinking he's dead. It takes him a long time to believe that, though, especially watching them get grimier and hungrier.

I do not want to encourage you to jump ship on current stories, but. Man, I want that fic like burning.

(If you wanted to talk out any fics you're stalled on, or send along snippets for encouragement-and-squee purposes, that offer is still open! Just so you know ♥)

I am not jumping ship on current stories, I promise! I'm just having a brief affair.

(I was actually just thinking of emailing you and checking to see if it was still okay! \o/)

Brendon would stutter! Because of the stress of serving under the Evil Abusive Captain again! (Lou Perelman? He's my go-to guy for evil, given that he's actually in prison) And Spencer would eye him narrowly and plot ways to save Brendon (and himself). But, oh! The sorrow of thinking Brendon dead, mixed with the bittersweet joy of finding him alive.

He is usually so bright and flaily and smiley that Spencer's chest goes tight to see Brendon hunch over onto himself whenever the captain is around! No one gets to make Brendon scared, no one! Only then he thinks Brendon is dead, which is even worse! At which point he launches an entire campaign against the evil captain and manages to get him de-captainized or something, because if he couldn't save Brendon he can at least do this. (And then he finds Brendon, and it's wonderful, except for the way that Brendon is bruised and dirty and so terribly thin.)
