Age of Steel drabble for the drabbling_who challenge. Named Crack, but not crack, go figure. ;) Only one more drabble left to go after this! And then I'm taking up s3. Maybe.

There’s a hole in this universe. A gap, just his size and just his shape and maybe he’s not the right man, exactly, to fill it, but it’s there and the temptation’s so strong it’s all he can do to pause before he leaps.
A grandparent without a grandson, a grandchild without their grandmother. A perfect match, surely. It calls to him - this world without a hero.
He knows he’s not as courageous as the one before him but, when he looks at the hole - just his size and just his shape, he thinks that maybe, just maybe, he can be.
