Wow, that's quite a Trader Joe's experience. So why aren't there more Trader Joe's in New York? It seems like it would be a pretty common store. I had no idea that so many things aren't kosher... I used to go shopping with my vegan friend Patrick, and it was always easy to find vegan things. Glad that you found some things, though.

I have no idea why there aren't more TJs in nyc. I mean most people can drive to long island for like 25 minutes and they have several there. I just don't have a car. I guess it is easier to put a store in a new long island or new jersey strip mall whereas in brooklyn or queens real estate is so prime there is little room for new shops. We have chain supermarkets like luckys and safeway except they are called shoprite and walbaums but other than that most food or health food stores are local non chain businesses which is nice, except of course i grew up with trader joes and rainbow before that so i expect that stuff. Also they health kick has only hit over priced manhattan places and some neighborhoods in brooklyn but not its not the full scale health craze like california. i mean only the manhattan starbucks and not the brooklyn ones offer soy milk. we're just behind i guess.
it was quite an experience! I ended up going back AGAIN on Sunday ( i think it was a little addicting)- but did end up cooking a delicious dinner on Sunday night. Its time for you to get that gas working so you can actually cook the stuff you bought! hehe -Kerri
Aaaah. You forget about my lovely granite couter top, new stove, double microwave, double sink, fully stocked with pots and paper plates work stove. (Yeah I should call that gas guy though.) Do you think he'll mind that my litter box is right next to the stove?
