Valley of Darkness

In my last recap, I lamented that Scattered was merely a filler episode waiting for us to get to bigger and better things. So, along comes Valley of Darkness and, while it, too, is an episode that's acting as a filler piece in getting us to where we'll eventually be going, it's a really fun, diversionary type episode where the audience doesn't have ( Read more... )

4) Ron Moore would say: once the audience starts thinking this kind of stuff, you've lost them by making some huger writing error before. Not completely sure I agree with him, though.

7) Haven't seen this episode in a while, but is she wearing the disco shirt? I love the disco shirt, possibly for all the wrong reasons.

12) I love that moment at Kara's too. The music, the apartment, the chilling. It's in these little moments that BSG's brilliancy really shines. I also think it's the only time Moore got his way and was able to get some Philip Glass into BSG...

16) Yes, struck me too. It's very disturbing to see the father of sorts of the fleet do such a horrible thing. It really drives the point home.

4) I can't decide if I agree with him or not.

7) So wearing the disco shirt. The shiny blue silk one. It's not so bad from the side but it has the strangest neck line and it looks like a nightshirt.

I refrained from putting it in my recap, but it reminded me of Scully's blue night-shirt like blouse from season six's "Tithonus". Must be some kind of wardrobe pre-req for awesome ladies of television.

12) Philip Glass! I knew I forget to mention something . . .

LOL. I was just reading your tags i'd totally do Bear McCreary ME TOO. I love his work on this show and Baltars Dream is one of my all time favourites. I only just recently purchased S.1 OST and heard Destiny which it obviously derivates from.

16. Ballsy indeed. That is one of the sequences that has always stayed with me. It shocked me even though I knew it was a dream.

The tag is true to life. The freest frak Bear McCreary could ever hope to have would be with me.

We could start by making out to "The Shape of Things to Come" then maybe dim the lights and put on "Roslin and Adama" and then . . .

LOL. I'm pretty sure Bear could rival Baltar in the amount of women willing to join a 'girly groupy sex whatever they are' for him. *raises hand* I so would. The man is never off my ipod.

I love this episode. It's actually one of my favorites of season 2.

Clearly, anyone who thinks they're winning something over Laura Roslin knows nothing about Laura Roslin. She will own you

TRUEST. WORDS. EVER. Ha.

12. I love this scene too! I find it really moving for some reason.

13) I find that this quote sums Kara (and her relationship to everyone she knows) up very well: "Everyone I know is fighting to get back to what they had. I'm fighting because I don't know how to do anything else."

Word. Her delivery of this line is great too.

17. The deaths of the soldiers & everything surrounding it is another reason I love this ep. I actually tear up every time I watch them tell Socinus that a rescue ship is on its way. *sniff*

17) I always get kind of emotional about that, too. I really liked Socinus. Out of the threesome of Cally, Jammer, and Socinus, Socinus is the only one that didn't make me want to claw my eyes out in annoyance.

I definitely think Valley of Darkness is an underrated episode. It's a seriously solid, intense ride.
