Xena And Her Women

I've been wanting to write a comprehensive blog post about Xena for a long time now. Probably since I finished watching the show in late June. But there's so much to say about it and I'm way too lazy to go back and write an episode by episode review. I could handle the 72 or so episodes of BSG but Xena was six full seasons of at least 22 episodes. ( Read more... )

psuedo-philosophical tangent, xena!, i'd make out with lucy lawless, girlslash goggles

I am wiped after a day from Tartarus, but I just wanted to say that I really can't wait to read this when I have the energy to understand words. :-D

Great analysis! I remember reading an interview with Lucy where she said she was never sure if Xena was lesbian or bi, because of all the men in the first season. But that in the end she decided that she was a lesbian because it was the relationship with women that changed the character and were the most important.

I love 6th season too! I love the way the "subtext" becomes main text. It's like they knew it was their final season and so there was nothing they could do to them, so they just went for it!

Well terebelive again here
I wanted to say I totally agree about how women can and its great to help each others, this is great in the series, be you a married, a lesbo-amazon or a man or even a Godess, like Afrodita or others, or only a fighter, a survival or a warrior woman, strong woman or weak woman we all need and have the right and maybe the obligation to help. At least Xena always took this besides Her, maybe more than its rasonable, always losing something for Herself.
And well I insist: her die was wrong and not because Gab or any other gets alone, because Xena Herself and justice itself. e a warrior is not being an assassin and she gave compassion to many assassins, why not for Herself? a mistery nto always well explained.
Thanks for your patient again and a xenite hug for everyone if you take it

I really enjoyed your analysis of my favorite girl club. I miss Xena and Gabrielle and the whole gang, but I really miss the interaction of the fans. After the end of the series I just couldn't bring myself to continue the conversation...I felt betrayed somehow...and after all these years your blog shows up on Facebook. The ever decreasing spirals of life...never know what the universe is going to bring around again when you are ready for it! Thanks for writing and for sharing.

On Facebook? That's so random.

Since I'm a "new" watcher of Xena, I never got to participate in the discussion. I write my reviews as monologues hoping they'll become conversations. If you read any of my episode reviews, please feel free to comment because I love conversations about my favorite shows!
