Rapture

Oh man, it is such a lovely day. I just got back from a bike ride where the wind was blowing in my (now short) hair and a bug flew in my eye, and I had to power up hills, and stupid pedestrians refused to get out of my way even after they saw me coming and knew they were taking up the entire sidewalk. Yes, it's a lovely day. And I seriously need a ( Read more... )

I mean craptastic in the most flattering way possible. Because it has hokey special effects, bad production value, and dubious stunts. But that's what makes it great. It's campy on purpose. The show itself isn't crap but it's great because it's just so craptastically low budget.

I just saw an episode with Hercules. It almost made me as excited as I was when Dr. Quinn met Walt Whitman or President Grant.

I love Xena because they write their own crack! The comedy episodes are So funny!!! That and even though from the very begining they were told "You can't make them lesbians" by the powers that be, Lucy and Rene went ahead and did it anyway. And then their subtext became part of the show so that by the end of the 2nd (?) season they were confessing their love to each other, and by season 6 they were calling each other soul mates.

I just wanted to tell you (after searching for this comment) that I think the comedic episodes of Xena are HILARIOUS. When she's Xena, Meg, Diana, and Leah? It's so great.

And dude, Xena and Gabrielle are more affectionate than any other due on TV, in a relationship or not, straight or not. They're always touching each other, they're very sentimental with the other, and they're always saying, "I love you." (Except for when Hope killed Solan and Xena wouldn't answer Gabrielle's declaration. I so wanted to reach into the computer screen and hug them both so hard.)

Hehe, you have been watching a lot to have gotten that far. The comedy episodes are so good. They all have such good comedy timing. Especially ares!

Well their definitely not straight! lols The ladies themselves confirmed that. So great to see so much affection and love onscreen. Just got three episodes left of 6th season now. And like Bill Adama we've been putting off watching them because I don't want it to end! :)

That damned quadrangle of doom managed to tarnish many a episode that would otherwise have been brilliant. Ahhhh, make it stop.

The scene between Helo, Bill and Laura is great. I agree that it's good to see that conflict between Helo and Laura (though Bill just needs to stay the heck out of it all). I'm glad that Helo got to say what he said, and that Laura took it, and accepted her responsibility for hurting him. I would love to have seen her have the chance to explain more to him why she did what she did, although I don't see him taking much notice ( ... )

Xena = AWESOME. Just wait till you get to S3. Some seriously great stuff there.

I really wish we'd gotten more Helo & Laura/Athena & Laura scenes out of this. So much potential there and it doesn't amount to a whole lot.

Agreed on Kara's mandala. It's really not complex enough to be such a Big Damn Deal.

I'm almost done with season three and it has been super intense! Demon babies? Caesar? Evil Xena in China? Solan's death? Xena dragging Gabrielle behind her horse? A musical?!

I'm so digging it.
