Car Shopping...

The car shopping has finally begun after Brad had time to look over the latest Consumer Reports and we put together our short lists (we each made our own).

Anyways, the weather was about as crap as it could have been so we didn't actually take anything on a test drive but we did the obligatory sitting and extreme exploration of the different ( Read more... )

I love most of those! The only one in our price range is the Toyota Highlander (non-hybrid). We are a Toyota family anyhow. :) Mike's dad has a Highlander and its a great vehicle. They love it and I've driven it and feel its very comfortable. Of course, if I had my choice, we'd upgrade to the Acura, Lexus or BMW. A friend of mine has a Mercedes M500 (I think that's what its called...its comparable to the SUVs pictured above) and its a great one too.

Brad's in love with the Highlander and I'm glad to hear that your family has had a good experience with it!

Ooh, thanks for the advice. I'm glad to hear the Acura is as good as it seems to be. It's truly a beautiful vehicle and I think I might be in love with it. ;o) I'm also glad to hear that the dealership in Fife was great to deal with. If we go with the Acura we'll be sure to head there. Thanks again!

Oooh, so jealous. :) I want (and need) a new car sooo badly, but we're trying to hold out for another year +. Anyhoo, I test drove the BMW X3 yesterday just for fun, and looooved it. I don't know if that's too small for you, but for me it has that nice in-between feeling.

Of course, the X5s are BEYOND fabulous - my fave out of those listed. I know you can get some pretty awesome deals on CPO's ... something to consider?

will this be for you to drive? if so, get a car seat, load it with 15 pounds of sugar or sometihing and test out if you can comfortably lug it into the back seat in the center - remebering that you have to lift it high up over the base so it'll click in.

we have an mdx which i love and had planned to use after the baby came and give dh my accord. but getting that carseat in and out was near impossible. i had to literally climb in and out of the backseat. and that was when ben weighed about 6 pounds!

Sigh, it seems like everyone is car shopping!!

Of course, if I had my pick, I'd get the X5. Sadly, I just can't justify the price. :( My mom has the Lexus and LOVES it. I think she's had it about a year now, and she still thinks it's the best car ever. LOL, so I guess it gets my thumbs up as well.

Good luck!
