Right now I'm looking out the office window of our condo at yet another amazingly gorgeous day.  So, after doing this I think I'll do my usual walk down to Alki Beach... I love it down there and have spent a ton of time down there as I always do in the summers (well, since living here at least):

So for those of you not familiar with Alki Beach... ( Read more... )

Alki is so pretty! Do you own or are you renting? I will have to keep that on my list of places to potentially move to!

Mosquitos...ick! We do a ton of hiking/backpacking and mosquitos can definitely ruin a trip. I remember a particular trip that sounds exactly like your trip - it was horrible. Patrick applies this bug repellent all over his entire body and it smells so, so bad. I can't bring myself to use much of it. The only thing that helps with mosquitos is nighttime and a fire.

The hike looks like a lot of fun! Did you hike down to the lake? Gotta love hiking clothes. Trust me...I have an entire drawer filled with hiking clothes that you would be equally jealous of:)

We didn't hike all the way down to the lake because it was getting late and we pretty much knew we wanted to break down camp and head home because of the stupid mosquitoes.

We own a condo here in West Seattle in what's called "The Admiral District." We're right above Alki and it's a 5 minute walk down to the beaches so it's prefect because we don't have to pay out the nose to live on Alki but we feel like we're right there.

We bouth our condo in an older building because the price was SO MUCH LOWER and we knew that this way we could remodel it and when it comes time to sell we'll have made a great profit.

There are a lot of apartments for rent not too far from us and every once in a while there are some amazing deals on apartments down on Alki too. Especially when summer is coming to a close!

Great to know...thanks!:)
Are condos typically in the $300-400 price range or higher? Or lower?

We bought ours a few years ago and lucked out by getting ours for less than that but now there are some really beautiful, new places in the $300-400 range that are just gorgeous! I have a few friends that have been looking for a little while and they've been finding sveral great 2 br condos in great locations at that price range.

If I were you I'd start checking out www.ziprealty.com and also www.windermere.com because you can search by city name and type in all your parameters just so you can see what you'd be looking at in different areas. ;o)

Isn't Alki fun? I love just sitting down there with nothing at all to do except soak up the sun, read and relax. Nothing beats it!

You know what, you should make a trip over here sometime and check out Alki (Sundays and weekdays are my favorite because on Saturdays it can get crowded). It's pretty neat. Also, my favorite restaurant is short drive from Alki further into West Seattle. It's called Ovio Bistro. Their food is amazing. Yum. www.oviobistro.com and they have a little sister restaurant right by my house called O2 but I haven't been there yet.

You are so lucky to live so close to an amazing beach. *sighs wistfully*

Love the hiking pictures. I would be pretty freaked out by that height, too. And mosquito bites on the palm of your hands? I would go crazy! You are a trooper!

I did go crazy with those stupid bites. I'd never experienced anything like that before and you might think I was a trooper but don't think I didn't whine like a 3 year-old about it. ;o)
