I always think one of the great strengths of The Professionals is that Cowley was never just there to give the lads someone to answer to. He's a real presence in the show and hence in the fandom. Not just in charge of the lads, but one of them. Even in the early publicity.
A fine actor whose work is worth remembering.

And a lovely man too; more: a real gentleman.

Gosh, is it really twenty-five years? Yes, indeed, a lovely man in all ways, and Pros wouldn't be at all the same without him. Cowley is such a fascinating, strong character.

I also enjoy his 'presence' in the series. It would have really lacked something without him. I'm glad they broke with tradition and wrote his character that way.

I think Gordon Jackson is epic in the show. He delivers a powerhouse performance in so many scenes. I utterly believe he is George Cowley in every way - gentleman, old dog, diplomat, spy, military man, civil servant, right old bas*ard. The show would be so much weaker without his character and without his actor.
