I know! I love that bit--fixing the flat up a bit for the old man who lives there. I just...I don't know, I just really like the universe she builds with them. It's a great Christmas story.

It's one of my Christmas favourites too - I forget about it, but as soon as I read about the old guy it all comes back to me. Thank you for the reminder.

Exactly. I don't know why I haven't read so many of my favorites for so long...I've been rediscovering them this year. (Well, actually, I guess it's because I'm using writing something rather frantically. *g* Or only reading on my Kindle in England, and I haven't got all of these on it. ) Anyway! Yay for rediscovery!

Yes, it has long been one of my favorite Christmas stories. I can't believe how long it had been since I last read it! But I'm usually traveling and writing at Christmas, and for some reason this isn't on my Kindle. I shall remedy that for next year. *g*
