Gordon Jackson Memorial

Jan 17, 2011 17:27

I am not exactly in time for this, since the anniversary of Gordon Jackson's death was the 15th of January (this last Saturday, I was very busy writing, after a long interruption and giving poor Cowley a hard time). But as the popular saying says: "better late than never". It just occured to me (very belatedly!) that last year was the 20th ( Read more... )

If somebody knows how to make my link appear as it should be, without all the coding, I'd be happy to correct it for it's not pretty that way.

Very interesting. I didn't know about that site. Gordon Jackson should indeed be remembered. Both Martin and Lewis told about what an absolutely lovely man he was.

Try this code but remove the asterisks:
<*a href="http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=6304848%94%3EGordon%20Jackson%92s%20Memorial">Gordon Jackson's memorial<*/a>

I did it but that didn't work. I think you gave me exactly the same coding I'd used. Thanks nonetheless.

Both Martin and Lewis told about what an absolutely lovely man he was

How true! His interviews on youTube also are so charming and full of humour and modesty. He certainly was the perfect gentleman (the real thing, not the merely social, upper-class, establishment type which Cowley so strongly despised).

I don't think the coding is the problem. I think the problem is that you typed in to the Rich Text window and not the HTML window.

If you typed your HTML code in the HTML window then it would load properly.

(I'm referring to tags at the top of the window).

I did it the first time but, realising that, I changed for html, to no avail (I did the changes several times).

My mum's at Golders Green crem too, in the Pavlova area.

It's a lovely garden with amazing roses.

I'll try to join the site a bit later - internet is being a tad stroppy today.

I saw your announcement on Proslib only after I had sent you the link: I should have known you would notice it here. Anyway I was pleased to see a new wave of messages on the site.

Do you remember if there was something special last year for the 20th anniversary?

I've known the site for years but didn't think of posting about it sooner. It would have been especially interesting last year for the 20th anniversary...

Thank you very much for the reminder.
I owe him many happy moments on TV!
Cheers!

He was the central character in "Upstairs/Downstairs" I think.
