Some (mostly personal) fandom things from this week (and I'll come back later with fic recs):
- I turned twenty-one this week and designed a cocktail based on Charles/Erik. And drank it. It was fucking lethal so in future we're going to make the "beach version" which will have something other than pure booze in it.
This week I discovered Game of Thrones (the HBO series)!
It has seriously gratuitous nudity, a ridiculous amount of sex (including both vague and explicit incest), and the most needless graphic violence since Spartacus: Blood and Sand, so I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Where else would you see (in one episode, mind) a knight lazily coaching two prostitutes on how to properly fake an orgasm, and a duel that ends with one guy being stabbed in the throat and chucked through a hole in the floor that leads to a drop higher than the clouds???
My favourite character has so far been groped by her brother, married off to a foreign king, had sex-lessons from her brother's favourite whore, got pregnant, eaten a horse's heart in some kind of weird pregnancy ritual, and supervised the murder of said brother, and I've still got two episodes to watch!
Has anyone else finished it / watching it / read the books?
I totally know what you mean about the storylines. They're all sort of linked and bound together, and they reference eachother, but it's somehow not confuzzling! This sort of thing usually totally loses me about two episodes in, but I just finished watching episode 9, and I cannot wait for the last one. Plus, it's already been renewed!
I somehow managed to miss seeing all of it, despite wanting to watch it. I have however, mimed out the entire first three episodes, whilst a friend of mine was explaining things to someone who started watching misway through. I ended up playing "everything dead/dying." It sounds rather awesome.
So, over the last week I've watched all the currently available episodes of Luther, and I have decided that I love it to pieces, and not just because of Alice Morgan.
Alice is totally awesome though.
Something that I really like, even though it's not very big or anything, is that season one ended with Luther saying "What now?" and season two starts with Alice saying "Now what?". I just like the symmetry of that.
(also I have this crazy AU sort of thing in my head that involves Luther and Alice and Mark either a) running things in a post-apocalyptic world or b) hunting things that go bump in the night or c) just generally kicking ass. IDK, I just think they make a good team.)
I read this Rachel/Quinn bench! porn (it's months old but i've actually only just started reading glee fic). But yes really fucking hot. And if you are into fan art this image goes with it - nsfw pic
In more personal news (and writing One Direction fic news) I am currently writing a sequel to this fic and I feel like I'm never gonna be happy with it :( Harry/Louis fic in which they meet when they are 15 and 17 respectively IN 2009. Currently I'm writing 2010 and yeah.

- My best friend is ridiculous and wonderful so I have a birthday card signed by and written in by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.
In other news: I discovered Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) was hot and made a picspam (which I recommend you go look at because it's ridiculously beautiful), and then I discovered HE HAS A BAND AND WRITES TRIPPY MUSIC and it's all been downhill from there.
And I've been writing increasingly ridiculous X-Men AUs if anyone's interested ;)
