I read 5 chapters already and there is something I don't understand yet, how a couple exactly become mates?

There is an explanation of that near the end of this entry. Basically, after an Omegas heat cycle, the two are a bonded pair for the rest of their life. There's not really any magic or anything to it. Humans are just even more monogamous in the omegaverse than irl.

I read the explanation before reading this fanfic, but, since english is not my native language, they are still things I don't quite understand. I didn't think there would be any diference between both words untill I keep reading and something didn't fit -__-

So, a couple becomes into mates when they have sex during heat and they get knotted? I have an idea of what knot is, but since there is no translation in spanish for that context, I can't stop myself from imagining it like when dogs stick together XD
