It's hot - damned hot!

About 43C or 110F. I need to go back to Yorkshire. The prospect of living out my old age (and even middle age) in this sort of weather is getting too awful to contemplate. Australia has many things going for it but its weather isn't one of them.

I thought of you when I saw the headlines. I thought it was "only" supposed to be 40C - but 43C? Good lord.

It depends whereabouts in Sydney you are. The official temperature is taken closer to the sea than us and is usually a couple of degrees warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The highest official temperature was 47.1C in the suburb of Penrith, which is further west than we are. It was horrendous but actually cooled down more than was predicted overnight so I did sleep OK. It will continue in the mid to high 30s today and then cool down on Wednesday. I did manage to wash some curtains and got them dry in about quarter of an hour!
